Bahrain Airport Company and Taksal Aviation Company expect a memorandum of understanding to expand the capabilities of maintenance, repair and repair of aircraft at Bahrain International Airport

Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Communications and Communications, stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is continuing to implement its ambitious strategy to develop the civil aviation sector and enhance its infrastructure, in line with the best international standards. He pointed out that the maintenance, repair and renovation of aircraft (MRO) represents one of the vital axes in this strategy, due to its promising investment opportunities, and what it contributes to supporting the comprehensive aviation system in the Kingdom.

He pointed out that the expansion of advanced maintenance services at Bahrain International Airport enhances the Kingdom’s ability to attract specific investments, and supports the trend towards diversifying the national economy, stressing that the partnership with the Taksal Airlines is an ideal model for the integration of the public and private sectors in developing aviation services, in a way that contributes to consolidating the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain as an efficient and flexible regional logistical center.

This came on the occasion of the signing of the Bahrain Airport Company, the authority responsible for managing and operating Bahrain International Airport and Taksal Airlines, which specializes in air freight and aircraft maintenance, a memorandum of understanding to expand the capabilities of maintenance, repair and repair of aircraft at Bahrain International Airport, on the sidelines of the Paris Air Exhibition held during the period from 16 to 22 June 2025.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Communications and Communications, as it was signed by Jeffrey Joh, CEO of Gulf Air Group, and George Chishmolm, CEO of the Taksal Airlines.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the Taksal Airlines operations will be expanded at Bahrain International Airport by establishing a new category category fold with an area of ​​7,000 square meters, in addition to allocating an additional 10,000 square meters to aircraft parking squares and handling areas. This developed facility was designed to accommodate up to three category C, or a greater number of businessmen, in an air -conditioned and specialized environment that corresponds to the highest international standards adopted in the field of aircraft maintenance, which contributes to enhancing the ability of Bahrain International Airport as a regional center for the aviation sector at the region level.

On this occasion, Khaled Hussein Taqi, Chairman of the Gulf Air Group, stressed that the Memorandum of Understanding embodies the group’s long -term vision in creating valuable and sustainable opportunities for partners and private investors, in a way that contributes to supporting the national economy by investing in the infrastructure of the aviation sector in the Kingdom. He stressed the importance of partnership with the Taksal Airlines, which is a successful model for active partnership, as it is a Bahraini company with a prominent regional impact, and its growth path at Bahrain International Airport is in line with the group seeing to find a flexible and attractive environment for air freight, maintenance and repair activities.

For his part, Jeffrey Joh, CEO of Gulf Air Group, affirmed the company’s firm commitment to providing support to investors at Bahrain International Airport, and enabling their commercial expansion and their business growth, within the framework of the company’s strategy to enhance private aviation operations. He pointed out that supporting the logistical services sector is an urgent necessity to diversify the airport services and establish the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a regional aviation center, stressing that the Taksal Airlines is a strategic partner that contributes effectively to the air freight and aviation system at Bahrain International Airport. He also added that the company’s expansion reflects the investor confidence in the airport’s ability to support the various services and work of the aviation sector, in order to promote the position of Bahrain International Airport as a pioneering regional center in the areas of logistical services, air freight, and aircraft maintenance and repair services.
