Dr. Ismail Al -Arabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the Red Sea, announced the signing of a medical cooperation protocol between the Governorate Health Directorate and the National Heart Institute in Cairo, with the aim of training and qualifying medical and nursing cadres to operate the catheter center and cardiac surgery, which was recently completed at a total cost of about 400 million pounds, in a move on the way to upgrade the health care system in the Red Sea Governorate.
Al -Arabi explained that the protocol provides for the participation of a group of senior heart consultants at the National Heart Institute in training medical and nursing teams in Hurghada, in preparation for the full operation of the center during the next few period.
Pointing out that the operational capacity of the center will start performing between 5 to 7 catheter operations per day, along with three open heart operations per week.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the Red Sea emphasized that the new center is one of the most important modern health projects in southern Egypt, with its modern medical devices in the catheterization and cardiac surgery, along with an independent blood bank, an integrated laboratory, and operations rooms equipped with the latest international technologies.
This comes in implementation of the directives of Major General Amr Hanafi, Governor of the Red Sea, that the center should be accelerated to alleviate the suffering of heart patients, in light of the province’s previous lack of specialized medical centers in this field.
