“Ali Baba” launches “the first global artificial intelligence” to detect stomach cancer

The “Ali Baba” group has revealed the world’s first artificial intelligence model capable of diagnosing stomach cancer, even in its early stages, using CT scans only without the need for surgical procedures.

This innovation goes beyond the need for disturbing and painful internal theorizing, which often discourages patients from early examination.

The developed system is known as Grape (an abbreviation of “stomach cancer risk assessment”), a cooperation fruit between Ali Baba Academy and Zhejiang Cancer Hospital.

The model was based on a huge clinical study that included about 100,000 participants from 20 hospitals in China, which helped training the system to get to know accurate patterns that even specialized doctors may lose. Thus, Grape became able to determine the signs of stomach cancer in high -resolution of radiology, achieving an sensitivity rate of 85.1% and accuracy of 96.8% in clinical trials.

In some cases, the model monitored tumors that doctors were unable to notice, which could provide patients for months of delay in treatment.

In China, less than 30% of patients are undergoing internal endoscopy tests, according to Dr. Cheng Xiang Dong of Zhejiang Hospital, due to its exhausting nature. So, the Grape model offers a comfortable, comfortable solution based on photography, which is a qualitative shift in the discovery of this deadly disease.

Currently, the system is being prepared for adoption in the provinces of Zhejiang and Annai, with a previous success of the Damo Academy with the “Damo Panda” tool, which was used to discover pancreatic cancer and obtained a classification of the “innovative device” from the American Food and Drug Administration in 2023.

Ali Baba, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, is also working to spread these technical solutions in low -income areas to improve early detection opportunities and reduce the gap in health care.
