Iranian media reported this evening – that the air defenses in the country were able to shoot down a plane suspected of Israel, in the vicinity of the Fordo nuclear facility near the city of Qom.

According to local reports, the drone was monitored in the prohibited atmosphere around the facility, before the air defenses intervened and dropped them without recording damage.
There has been no official comment yet from the Iranian Ministry of Defense or the Israeli authorities regarding the incident, while preliminary analyzes indicate the possibility of regional tension in light of the existing security tensions.
This incident comes amid the escalation of regional tensions after the mutual air strikes between Tehran and Tel Aviv during the past months, as well as renewed controversy over Iran’s nuclear program and the possibility of targeting it by its regional opponents.
It is worth noting, the Fordo facility is one of the most important and fortified Iranian nuclear facilities, and it is located inside a mountain near the city of Qom, which makes it difficult to target in the event of a military confrontation. The United States and its allies have previously expressed concern about the activities of the enrichment in it, which increases the sensitivity of any unusual moves in its vicinity.
