After the closure of Nuweiba .. Red Sea Ports raise the degree of readiness due to the meteorological warnings

Major General Mohamed Abdel Rahim, Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Authority, directed the lifting of the state of preparation in all the ports of the authority in the governorates of Suez, the Red Sea and South Sinai, in conjunction with the meteorological authority’s warnings about the disorder of weather conditions in the Gulf of Suez, Aqaba and the Red Sea.

A source in the Red Sea Ports Authority said in exclusive statements to “Cairo 24”, that the head of the authority asked the port managers continuously communicating with the operations room to follow up the weather and naval conditions, and take precautionary measures and measures that guarantee the safety of ships dealing with ports, as well as sidewalks, sea crews and workers.

The source pointed out that the port managers have confirmed the availability of navigational signs in the entrances and exits of the ports to guide ships, especially in the port of Nuweiba, which was decided to close due to wind speed and waves.

He pointed out that the wind speed in the port of Nuweiba ranged between 20 to 25 knots, southwestern, while the wave height reached between 2 to 3 meters, which caused severe disturbance in the state of the sea, and the port was closed in order to ensure public safety.

The source emphasized that the decisions to close the ports in light of the weather disorder are considered to be a precautionary procedures followed, and small marine units are prevented from sailing to avoid accidents.
