While cinema fans are awaiting the identity of the new actor of James Bond, the Amazon Studios MGM has announced the choice of director Dennis Felinov to direct the next movie in the famous British spy series.
The company revealed in a statement, that Velnov, the French Canadian director known as the “Dune” series, will take over the executive production and production of the new movie, whose title has not yet been announced, alongside Tania Laboint.
This appointment comes according to the Daily Mail, after MGM separated from the veteran 007 producers, Barbara Brocley and Michael G Wilson, to assign production tasks to Amy Pascal and David Heman.
This step from Amazon is part of its large investment after its acquisition of MGM in 2021 in a deal amounting to $ 8.5 billion, including the rights of the “James Bond” series.
No new movie was released in the “James Bond” series since “No Time to Die” in 2021, which represented the end of Daniel Craig’s career as the famous secret agent.
“Some of my oldest cinematic memories are linked to Bond films. I have been watching her with my father since Dr. No and Sheon Connery.”
He added: “I am a major fan of Bond, and I consider this series as a holy land. I aspire to honor this legacy and open the door to new adventures.”
Felinov stressed that the project represents a “huge responsibility, but it is also a great honor and enthusiasm,” expressing his gratitude to producers Amy Pascal and David Heman, and Amazon MGM studios for the confidence granted to him.
For their part, Pascal and Hyman said: “Villanov has always dreamed of directing the movie Labond since his childhood, and now this dream has been fulfilled. We are lucky to be at the top of this project.”
