A joint international research team from Mansoura University won the first place in the 2025 educational surgical videos competition, organized by the global network of cardiac surgery (CTSNET), as part of the category of congenital heart defect surgeries.

This global competition highlights the most prominent distinguished educational videos, which aim to inspire and develop the skills of heart and chest surgery and multidisciplinary medical teams around the world.
Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, expressed his pride in this global achievement, stressing that the university’s leadership in the fields of medicine and surgery has become a prominent feature, noting that this success embodies the professional and scientific excellence of faculty members, and is a fruit of fruitful partnerships with senior international experts.
He also praised the university’s heart and chest surgery center, which is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East to integrate open heart surgeries with advanced vascular surgeries, which made it a regional reference in performing accurate surgeries.
The winning video has documented complex and unprecedented surgical procedures globally, under the title: “Russian procedure: visions about multiple techniques and modifications”, and the research team included: Professor Sameh Saeed, Head of Heart Surgery Department for Ethnic Disadvantages for Children and Adults at the Faculty of Medicine – New York University, Dr. Mohamed Sanad, Professor of Cardiology and Chest Surgery at Mansoura University, Dr. Mohamed Jabr, teacher of cardiac and chest surgery at Mansoura University, Mansoura University, And Dr. Ali Masadi from the United States of America, under the supervision and follow -up of Dr. Sameh Ibrahim, Head of the Department of Cardiology and Chest in Mansoura, and a group of department professors.
It should be noted that the center of the heart and chest surgery performed the first operation in the world to rebuild the aortic valve and the pulmonary valve using fully self -tissue from the patient’s body, without resorting to industrial or human valves, by integrating my technique “Ross” and “Ozaki” in an innovative style.
The 23 -year -old patient was undergoing the first case in the world in which the right and left ventricles directors are rebuilt using self -tissue only.
The methodology of this surgery and its results was published in the European Journal of Cardiology and Chest Surgery in the January 2025 issue, to record the addition of a new quality to the achievements of Mansoura University at the medical and scientific levels.
