A traveler of Israeli and Belarusian nationalities attempted to kill a two -year -old child, at the “Sherimettivo” international airport in Moscow.

According to the records of the surveillance cameras that documented the incident, Vladimir Witkev appeared as he raised the child from the ground, and put him strongly on the ground, in a scene described as “brutal” and “unjustified”.

According to the Iranian “Raja News” news agency, the Iranian child, who was severely injured, included a severe fracture of the skull, a critical injury to the spine, who is currently in a coma, and is struggling to survive.

The Russian authorities announced the arrest of the perpetrator, and charged with “attempting to kill”, while judicial officials confirmed that investigations also include considering the possibility of “racist motives or national hatred” behind the attack.

There have been no official comments from the Israeli or Belarusian embassies in Moscow, while anger and shock prevailed in social media, especially among the Iranians who considered the incident as a blatant example of hate violence.

The accused is scheduled to be shown before the court in the coming days, at a time when activists and human rights activists are demanding to punish him with the most severe penalties, stressing that what happened was a “crime against childhood and humanity.”

Badu, the Iranian ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, denied what was circulated through the media and social networks about the identity of the child who was subjected to brutal attack at Moscow airport, stressing that the victim is not Iranian as it was rumored, but rather is likely to be of Afghan origin.

In a statement to the media, Jalali said: “A shocking video was published showing a man to drop a young child in a brutal and inhuman way, and it was said that the perpetrator is a Jew, but I do not have a confirmation of that.”

The Iranian ambassador added that the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted its Russian counterpart to verify the nationality of the injured child, after it was popular that he was an Iranian citizen.

According to Jalali, the Russian authorities confirmed that investigations are currently being managed by the authorities concerned with Afghans, and that the child who is lying in a coma belongs to an Afghan family residing in Russia.

He continued, “So far, there are no evidence to confirm that the child is Iranian, and we are following the issue closely and legally.”
