The Media Center of the Council of Ministers said that the national strategy for localizing the drug industry has enabled Egypt to reach a self -sufficiency rate of 91%, as the highest country in the Middle East and Africa in this field.
Egypt has the largest drug market in Africa
He explained that Egypt has the largest drug market in Africa, with a value of more than 6.2 billion dollars, and includes more than 12 thousand drug preparations with a total annual sales exceeding 3.5 billion packages.
He added: This position is based on a strong industrial and organizational base that includes 179 drug factories, nearly 2370 production lines, more than 1,600 drug distribution companies, and nearly 80 thousand pharmaceutical facilities.
He pointed out that the Egyptian drug has a prestigious reputation globally in terms of quality and safe, and Egypt recently succeeded in entering new markets in Africa, the Arab world and Latin America, within the framework of a national strategy to enhance drug exports that currently reach more than 150 countries around the world.
