YouTube seeks to attract new users to serve “Premium” by trying a new plan that allows for the participation of two people, and this plan aims to provide a more flexible and less expensive option compared to family or individual subscription plans, which makes it ideal for husbands, friends or housing colleagues.
Experimental plan in limited countries
The experiment is currently taking place in only four countries: India, France, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, and the new plan allows the chosen users to share the YouTube Premium subscription or YouTube Music Premium with another person in the same family group on Google, provided that each of them has exceeded 13 years.
Low prices in the chosen markets
In India, the plan is presented at a price of 219 rupees per month (about $ 2.60) for the YouTube subscription for two people, and 149 rupees (equivalent to $ 1.77) for the YouTube Music Primium subscription, and since India is one of the cheapest markets in terms of pricing subscriptions, prices may vary when this plan expands to include other countries to suit local market prices.
A compromise between the individual and family plan
This new plan comes to fill the void between the individual user plan and the family plan, as it is suitable for those who live in a house that includes only two people, and in return the family plan remains a better option for homes that include three or more users.
Additional motivation for paid subscription
YouTube has always tried to push users to subscribe to Premium by reducing the advantages of the free experience, especially after tightening the screws on users of banning ads, and with this new plan the company tries to provide additional flexibility that makes the paid subscription more attractive in terms of price.
No confirmed information about global expansion
Until now, YouTube has not announced an appointment or intention to expand this plan outside the countries in which the experiment has started, and at the present time users can seek the cheapest alternatives to the YouTube Premium Lite subscription, which removes ads from most videos but does not include advantages such as downloading or playing in the background.
