Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector, received a delegation from British Petroleum International, to follow up the executive procedures for restarting the Anoud Balokat factory in the free zone in Ain Sukhna, in light of the agreement signed last January between Brech Petroleum and the Egyptian ANoud Compresses Company, which owns the Holding Company for Metal Industries and its subsidiaries, 75% of its shares.

During the meeting, the steps for implementing the agreement and the ongoing stages of work were reviewed to restore the operational energy of the factory, which is one of the vital projects in aluminum production chains, supporting the national industry and reducing dependence on import.
Engineer Mohamed Shimi stressed the ministry’s keenness to enhance cooperation with leading international companies and prepare the supportive environment to attract more foreign investments in subsidiary companies, and to provide all aspects of support to resume the activity in the Anoud factory that has been suspended for more than two years, directed to take the necessary measures to accelerate the implementation of maintenance work to operate the factory, setting a work plan and a specific time schedule, and in a way that takes into account the highest quality, safety and environment standards.
The minister pointed out that the restart of the factory comes within the strategy of the Ministry of Public Business Sector to maximize the benefit of industrial assets and enhance the production capacity of subsidiary companies and increase production and operation rates, and contribute to meeting market needs and replace imports and support sustainable industrial development, explaining that the operation of the company contributes to reducing the import bill from its final product that industrial companies consume, the most important of which are aluminum industry companies.
For his part, the “British Petroleum” delegation expressed their commitment to providing technical and technical support to restart the factory and adhere to the specified timetable, appreciating the efforts of the Ministry of Public Business Sector, the Holding Company for Metal Industries and the work team of the Anoud Company to complete and activate the agreement, and stressing that the coming period will witness the supply and installation of the second coal cooler, in preparation for operating the factory and working with productive energy Maximum.
It is noteworthy that the agreement includes the “Brech Petroleum” funding the necessary maintenance work, supervising the process of “Sunnah” petroleum coal, and raising the efficiency of operation to reach the maximum production capacity.
Annual production volume
It is expected that the annual production volume after completing the technical structure and supplying the second coal cooler will reach about 250 thousand tons annually, in a way that achieves net revenues for the ANoud Blocks Company, estimated at 97 dollars per year per year, and the agreement also guarantees a minimum of Anoud, equivalent to a year of 200 thousand tons annually.
The contract signed between the two parties extends to 5 years, and “Brech Petroleum” investments in maintenance work and raising the efficiency of operation are estimated at about 20 million dollars, with their commitment to provide full technical support by sending specialized technical teams to oversee productive processes and apply international safety and quality standards.
The meeting was attended by Eng. Mohamed Al -Saadawi, Executive Director of the Holding Company for Metal Industries, Mohamed Hassouna, Minister of the Minister, and from “Brech Petroleum”: Eng. Wael Shaheen, the company’s regional vice president in Egypt, Dr. Amr Al -Jeddawi, Director General of Business Development for the Middle East, Mrs. Laura Benia, head of the international sector of coke business at the company, and Eng. Sherif Al -Jabali, director of the project to restart the Anud factory.
