On Thursday, the US Department of Commerce announced a joint project with the UAE to launch the “largest artificial intelligence facility outside the United States”, which will be built in Abu Dhabi. The advertisement came in conjunction with the visit of US President Donald Trump to the state.
A center with a capacity of 5 GB and a huge area
The center will be built by the UAE company “G42”, in partnership with a number of American companies and will be with a capacity of up to 5 GB and on an area of 10 square miles, according to the US Department of Commerce.
American management and operation
The ministry clarified that American companies will manage and operate data centers, and will provide cloud services under American supervision in the region. It was also agreed on strict security guarantees to prevent leakage or misuse of American technology.
Part of a broader visit to the region
This announcement comes within a broader tour of President Trump in the Middle East, during which he met a number of leaders and announced several economic and security agreements. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, attended the announcement of the new project.
