The US Senate plans to vote this week to prevent California’s historic plan to end the sale of gasoline vehicles only by 2035, which was adopted by 11 other states, according to majority leader John Thun.

On May 1, the US House of Representatives approved legislation to abolish an exemption granted by the US Environmental Protection Agency during the era of former President Joe Biden in December, allowing California to impose at least 80% of electric vehicles by 2035.
The largest car manufacturer urged this measure, saying that the rules are useless, and California says the rules are necessary to reduce pollution, and confirm that the vote is illegal.
Thun added that this procedure actually imposes a strict obligation at the country level with electric vehicles due to the size of California and the adoption of other states for it.
“The auto companies throughout the country will force the country to close a large part of its traditional production of vehicles, which will result in severe consequences.”
The Car Innovation Alliance, which represents General Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai and other major car manufacturers, warned that car companies may be forced to reduce the number of cars offered significantly to increase their share of electric car sales.
Other states have adopted the rules of the California Air Resources Council, including New York, Massachusetts and Oregon, which represents nearly 40% of the American auto market, but the Vermont and Meryland states delayed compliance.
