Natalia Windor, the United Nations representative in Egypt, said that the urgent population plan represents an ambitious vision to improve the lives of current and upcoming generations, confirming the full support of the United Nations for this plan that places man at the heart of public policies.
The Ministry of Health and Population is organizing the celebration of launching the urgent plan for population and development, and announcing the results of the experimental phase of the plan, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, Minister of Health and Population, and ministers, members of the Ministerial Group for Human Development.
This came during her speech at the launching of the urgent population plan, where she made it clear that better beginnings for every child are the essence of this plan, which is based on practical procedures that put families and children in the foreground, and aims to cause a real shift in health, education and nutrition.

Wendor emphasized that the United Nations is working with the Egyptian government to ensure women obtain reproductive health services, and to enable families to make enlightened decisions about the future of their children, noting that these efforts come within Egypt’s international obligations, which were emphasized during the 15th session of the United Nations Population and Development Committee, with the support of countries such as South Africa and Brazil.
Windor touched on the malnutrition crisis, noting that 13% of Egypt’s children suffer from dwarf, and 12% of weight gain, while 43% of a forms of malnutrition suffer, which she described as a real threat to children’s ability to learn and contribute to society in the future, stressing that the future of the child should not be determined by the extent of food availability for him.
The United Nations representative praised the Egyptian government’s initiatives, especially the first day initiative, school feeding programs, and the road map to combat anemia and malnutrition, considering that it represents a strong basis for a future in which no child is left behind the knees.
It also valued the role of the Supreme Committee for Food and Nutrition, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister, and stressed the importance of cooperation between development partners such as the European Union, Canada and Germany, as well as the private sector and civil society.
She concluded her speech by saying: Let us move with unity and will towards a fair vision of a scientist in which every child lives in health and dignity, in which every small mind receives a fair opportunity to dream and lead.
