Under the generous patronage of the Supreme Council for Women, the work of the third edition of the “Women and Society” conference organized by the Royal University of Girls under the slogan: “Promote leadership, innovation and sustainability”, and the conference consumed its work as an official opening session during which Professor Riad Hamza, President of the Royal University of Girls gave a speech in which he mentioned the qualitative shift witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain in strengthening the position of women led by His Majesty King Hamad The monarch of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and the pioneering role of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of the country’s great monarch, President of the Supreme Council for Women, may God protect her, in launching qualitative initiatives and national policies that supported the presence of Bahraini women in various forums.
During the conference that witnessed the attendance of His Excellency Dr. Sheikha Maryam Bint Hassan Al Khalifa, Vice -President of the Supreme Council for Women and His Excellency Professor Lulwa Bint Saleh Al -Awadi, Secretary -General of the Council, and His Excellency Dr. Diana Al -Jahrami, Secretary -General of the Higher Education Council and a number of partners and stakeholders, Dr. Hamza stressed in his speech that the convening of the conference under the auspices of the Supreme Council for Women reflects the strong institutional partnership between the Council and the academic institutions in the Kingdom, He explained that the conference comes in harmony with the slogan of Bahraini Women’s Day for the year 2024: “Women are a partner worthy of state building.”
The President of the University pointed out that this conference is not just an academic effectiveness, but rather represents a global intellectual platform that aims to bring about a positive and sustainable change in societies, and stated that the conference is held under the slogan “promoting leadership, innovation and sustainability”, and this year has attracted more than 150 research papers from all over the world, with wide and distinguished participation of Bahraini researchers, which reflects the position of Bahraini women in the academic arena at the level Local and international, and explained that the conference includes specialized dialogue sessions and major axes that include: leadership, education, health, entrepreneurship, technological innovation, sustainability, and legal legislation.
At the end of his speech, the President of the University thanked the Babson International Command Center (BGCEL) as a cognitive partner, Al -Moayad Motors Company as a strategic partner, in addition to all sponsors and supporters, as well as the great efforts made by the university’s colleges, the Women’s Studies Center, and the administrative teams, in organizing this event in an honorable manner befitting its status and goals.
The “Women and Society” conference is an international multidisciplinary platform that brings academics and researchers from around the world, with the aim of highlighting the prominent contributions of women, especially in the areas of national development and sustainability, in line with Bahrain’s priorities in empowering women and enhancing their institutional role.
Over its three days, the conference reviews more than 150 scientific papers, and includes a busy program that includes high -level dialogue lectures and sessions, and workshops covering various axes that include women in leadership, law, education, technology, arts and health.
The second day will witness sessions dealing with issues of education, diplomacy and women’s health, in addition to celebrating the International Nursing Day, provided that the conference will be concluded on the third day by providing the most prominent recommendations and outputs that would contribute to the development of policies and empowering women at the local and international levels.
