The team, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahraini Diabetes Association, affirmed that the remarkable development witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the level of health care comes thanks to the support and attention that the health sector receives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and with a continuous follow -up from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, may God protect him Establishing an advanced health system that meets the aspirations of members of society.
This came during the press conference to announce the launch of the Bahrain Diabetes Conference and the World Diabetic Day, in November 2025, in cooperation between the Ministry of Health, government hospitals, primary health care centers, royal medical services, Bahraini Diabetes Association, and the Gulf Group of Diabetic Foot.
The President of the Supreme Council of Health pointed to the continuous efforts made by the Kingdom of Bahrain in improving the mechanisms of early detection of the complications of diabetes, noting that the health system attaches great importance to enhancing ways of prevention and treatment according to the latest international health care standards.
He also pointed out that adopting innovative solutions and relying on modern technologies contributed to the development of early examination and specialized care programs, in a way that contributes to reducing complications related to diabetes, and achieving a better quality of life for patients, in line with the priorities of health institutions and their strategic plans in promoting public health.
For her part, Dr. Lulwa Rashid Shuwaitir, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain pays great attention to combating diabetes through a comprehensive health strategy that focuses on prevention and early detection and promoting healthy lifestyles, noting that national efforts are continuing to raise societal awareness and improve the quality of services provided to people with diabetes, stressing the continuation of work on developing treatment and awareness programs to accompany international best practices, It enhances the health of society.
In turn, Dr. Ijal Faisal Al -Alawi, CEO of Primary Health Care Centers, showed that early and periodic detection of diabetic foot is one of the basic pillars of prevention, and is regularly performed in public clinics, chronic pathogens and diabetes. She also explained that the referral system between primary health care centers and government hospitals is carried out according to an approved protocol, where the priority of the referral is determined according to the clinical evaluation, starting from low -risk cases to cases that require urgent intervention.
Al -Alawi indicated the importance of follow -up after referral through feedback reports between secondary care and the basic doctor, and merged the treatment plan in the patient’s medical records, to ensure the continuity of care between the two levels, which contributes to improving the quality of the treatment services provided to diabetics.
For her part, Dr. Raja Sayed Hassan Al -Youssef, Executive Vice President of Government Hospitals, explained that government hospitals provide integrated services for diabetic foot treatment, including specialized clinics, treatment and dressing rooms, simple operations, and the care units of advanced cases, in addition to the availability of specialized medical cadres such as vascular surgeons, orthopedic surgeons and interventional radiologists, praising the efficiency of the nursing staff Which has a long experience in treating complex wounds.
Al -Youssef said that government hospitals are equipped with the latest medical devices and supplies, including negative suction devices (VAC) that contribute to speeding wound healing, indicating that these services are available to all citizens, with a focus on providing immediate care for advanced cases, which contributes to improving the quality of life for patients and reducing complications related to diabetic foot.
Brigadier Feryal Ali Al -Sabr, a consultant endocrinologist and diabetes in royal medical services, praised the recent developments in the treatment of diabetic foot, noting that hospitals dependent on advanced techniques, most notably the treatment with pure oxygen, which contributes to enhancing wound healing and improving the quality of care provided to patients. She emphasized that these efforts come within a comprehensive strategy that aims to provide advanced health services that are in line with the latest international standards in the field of treating diabetes complications.
As for Dr. Talal Khadr Al -Anzi, head of the Gulf Group of Diabetic Foot, he pointed out that the Bahrain Diabetes Conference and the Global Diabetic Circuit constitutes an awareness platform aimed at enhancing the prevention of diabetic foot ulcers, and reducing amputation rates, by adopting the latest treatment methods based on scientific evidence, and educating the Gulf community about the complications of diabetes and ways of prevention and treatment.
While Dr. Maryam Ibrahim Al -Hajri, Vice -Chairman of the Bahrain Diabetes Association, explained that the Bahrain Diabetes Conference and the World Diabetic Circuit represents an important station for continuous professional development, with a focus on comprehensive care and education of diabetics, and highlighting the latest scientific developments in the areas of diagnosis and treatment, as well as a review of awareness and preventive programs implemented by the association to promote public health.
