Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met this morning, students of the Upper Delta institutes in Mansoura, on the sidelines of his presidency of the first meeting of the Supreme Council for High Institutes Affairs outside the Ministry’s headquarters.
This came in the presence of Major General Tariq Marzouq, Governor of Dakahlia, Dr. Joudeh Ghanem, Acting Head of the Education Sector and Secretary of the Supreme Council for Special Institutes, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Mohamed Rabie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Upper Delta Institutes in Mansoura, and Dr. Ahmed Al -Adl, Deputy Governor of Dakahlia, along with members of the Supreme Council for Special Institutes of Special Institutes.
The Minister stressed the importance of the role of universities and institutes in supporting development plans, and achieving Egypt’s 2030 vision for sustainable development, pointing to the great boom in the higher education sector during the past ten years, since President Abdel Fattah Al -Sisi took over, as the number of universities from 50 universities in 2014 has increased to about 116 universities at the present time, as well as establishing branches of Egyptian universities abroad, which reflects the increasing international confidence in Egyptian education, and the number of students of education institutions has reached The higher in Egypt is about 3.8 million students, more than half of them are female.
Dr. Ayman Ashour also pointed to the importance of private high institutes, which numbered 185 institutes, studying nearly a million students, and the minister expressed his happiness at holding the first meeting of institutes on the land of Dakahlia Governorate outside the capital and the ministry since the establishment of institutes, and setting a law to regulate its affairs.
He affirmed the ministry’s keenness to be a graduate of the institutes at the same level as a university graduate in terms of efficiency and skills, by updating educational frameworks and governance, to cope with the programs that are internationally approved, and the Supreme Council of Universities has already been restructured to include a representation of various types of universities (governmental, private, private, technological) and institutes, and unifying the criteria of graduate skills through 22 sectors, in addition to the sector Global orientation.
The minister pointed to the great development witnessed by the private institutes, in terms of the quality of education and the programs presented, as a large number of them obtained accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation, and even some institutes have received international dependence in areas, such as: engineering, stressing that the ministry is working to provide integrated programs in cooperation with the various industry sectors, based on the fact that the academic certificate is no longer sufficient to obtain a job, but that the skills are what determines opportunities The graduate in the labor market, which the ministry seeks to strengthen through a modern and comprehensive educational system.
For his part, Major General Tariq Marzouq welcomed the attendees, praising the great renaissance witnessed by the higher education sector in Egypt with the support of the political leadership, stressing the keenness of preserving the benefit from universities and institutes in serving the local community, and supporting sustainable development plans, noting that science is the main pillar of the progress of peoples, pointing out that the Dakahlia Governorate, and the city of Mansoura in particular, is a cradle for many prominent scientific symbols, It deserves worthy to be called in the city of medicine and science, stressing that the intensity and diversity of educational institutions on the governorate’s land reflects a state of constructive competition that reflects positively on the quality of education, and expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Dr. Ayman Ashour in developing the higher education system and enhancing its efficiency.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Rabie held the first meeting of the Supreme Council for Special Institutes Affairs on the land of Mansoura, noting that this decision embodies an appreciation of the Dakahlia Governorate, which occupies an advanced rank in terms of the number of educational institutions, as it includes 13 institutes and 5 universities, explaining that this educational momentum contributed greatly to the creation of a clear urban and development boom in the governorate, stressing that education represents the vigor of comprehensive development. And that the presence of this number of academic institutions reflects the vital role of education in supporting the state’s development plans.
