The Ministry of Planning and the Projects Authority organizes a workshop on the legalization of project conditions in the informal sector

The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, and the Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise Development Agency organized a workshop on legalizing the conditions of small and medium enterprises in the informal sector,This is in cooperation with the OECD Economic Cooperation and Development Organization, within the framework of the Qatari program of the organization in Egypt.

And threw Dr. Rania Al -Mashat,, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, the opening word, as she emphasized that the Qatari program comes as a fruit for close and continuous cooperation between Egypt and the organization, as the program aims to maximize the benefit of the organization’s experiences in formulating and implementing structural reforms in accordance with international standards in order to support the implementation of Egypt Vision 2030.
Rania Al -Mashat added that the program includes 35 projects implemented in cooperation with the partner national bodies within the framework of the five axes of the program represented in: economic stability and structural reform, technology, innovation and digital transformation, general governance and anti -corruption, statistics, follow -up, and sustainable development.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation stressed that the workshop is an essential pillar to discuss ways to achieve the project goals, which is to support the national strategy to transform from the informal economy to the official economy, by analyzing the phenomenon of the informal sector in Egypt and the efforts made to address this phenomenon, with the aim of enhancing Egypt’s ability to provide facilities for business leaders and small and medium enterprises through better digital measures and effective tax systems to attract them to the sector Official, in addition to reviewing international best practices in the field of formalism to business.

In this context, Dr. Rania Al -Mashat indicated that the project intends to study five basic axes represented in enhancing social protection systems and simplifying the tax system for small companies, providing specific support services and training programs to enhance entrepreneurship skills and the ability to manage business, and to address the skills gaps and enhance the opportunities to obtain training for workers in the informal economy, and review the potential of digital technologies to facilitate the formal nature of small and medium -sized companies in The informal economy in a way that contributes to enhancing productivity, studying the challenges facing women and youth in the informal economy and formulating specific recommendations to encourage the shift towards the official sector, in line with the state’s efforts to enable these groups.

Dr. Rania Al -Mashat added that recently witnessed many legislative and regulatory efforts that would reduce the informal economy and integrate small and medium enterprises into the official economy, as the legislative framework for the Law of the Development of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises No. 152 of 2020 guarantees tax and non -tax incentives for projects that are transferred to the official economy, in addition to the launch of the window system One to simplify licenses and registration procedures, and to provide financial support and financing facilities for small and medium -sized companies.

Dak confirmedTRania Al -Mashat, that these measures are in line with national goals and according to the priorities of the Egyptian government under the umbrella of Egypt’s Vision 2030, in order to enhance the role of small and medium -sized companies as a sector that has a major role in advancing economic growth, increasing productivity, improving the business environment, attracting investments and enhancing sustainable growth.
