Palestinian journalist Hassan Samour and 11 members of his family were killed, at dawn today, May 15, 2025, after an Israeli air strike targeting their house in the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
Local and medical sources reported that the civil defense crews recovered 13 martyrs from under the rubble of the devastating house, including journalist Hassan Samour and a number of his relatives, while others were wounded.
Media sources confirmed that the bombing caused the destruction of the house completely, amid reports of the continued search efforts for missing under the rubble.
According to reports from the “Palestine Now” agency and the “Quds” network, the list of martyrs included: Muhammad Marzouq Samour, Hassan Muhammad Marzouq Samour, Swar Muhammad Marzouq Samour, Suhaib Hassan Marzouq Samour, Sham Hassan Marzouq Samour, Carmel Hassan Marzouq Samour, Saba Muhammad Marzouq Samour, and Sama Muhammad Marzouq Samour, along with others whose names have not been announced yet.
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned the crime, considering the targeting of the journalist Samour and his family a “war crime” aimed at “silencing the Palestinian media voice.”
International institutions demanded an investigation into the incident and to hold those responsible accountable.
This shelling comes within the series of intense Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens during the past weeks, amid the exacerbation of the humanitarian conditions in the Strip.
