Dr. Maryam Adabi Al -Jalahmah, CEO of government hospitals, affirmed that government hospitals are keen to continue their efforts and harness the available capabilities to support the health sector and serve community members, through the implementation of its strategic plans aimed at providing integrated and high -quality health care.
This came during a tour by the CEO with the editors of the local newspapers, to highlight the most prominent government hospitals’ achievements for the year 2024, where Al -Jalahma valued the pivotal role that the national press plays as an active part of the Bahrain team, in supporting and supporting national efforts, and contributing to highlighting the achievements achieved in various sectors.
Al -Jalahmah reported that government hospitals achieved 80% of the self -management plan, as part of its endeavor to enhance operational efficiency, in addition to the registration of the Salmaniya Medical Complex, the average family occupancy rate of 80%, and 90% in maximum care units, which reflects the high operational density of these institutions.
In the field of training and development, the CEO of government hospitals indicated that 46 doctors have been sent to specialized fellowship programs, and 304 doctors in various board programs, in addition to training 1509 nurses from various nursing fields, which enhances the efficiency of national medical cadres.
She said that government hospitals received more than 1.2 million visits during the year 2024, including more than 400,000 visits to the emergency department of the Salmaniya Medical Complex, and more than 509 thousand visits to outpatient clinics. The percentage of Bahrainis reviewers of government hospitals reached 82% of the total visits.
Al -Jalahmah indicated that during the year 2024, government hospitals managed to conduct more than 20.4 million laboratory examinations, and more than 316 thousand radiological examinations. 22,944 surgeries were carried out, in addition to the recording of 7,670 births, which reflects the daily work volume of these vital institutions.
Within the framework of developing services and raising the capacity, 56 additional beds were operated, and specialized units such as the short residence unit for the treatment of sickle cell anemia for women and the biological therapy unit were activated. A special suite in the emergency department has also been allocated to treat psychiatry patients, in a step that reflects the trend towards providing more specialized and intensive health services.
In order to enhance institutional excellence, government hospitals won a series of national and international credits, most notably the selection of the Salmaniya Medical Complex as a center for the fellowship exam from the Royal College of Doctors in the United Kingdom, obtaining Australian accreditation, ISO accreditation for the complex laboratory, in addition to the national accreditation from the National Authority for Regulating Health Services and Services with the platinum category, and institutional accreditation from the Saudi Health Specializations Authority as an accredited center, In addition to winning three prizes in the safety of patients from the Arab Hospitals Union.
It was also launched 23 new electronic services within the 500 government services development plan, which included pathological vacation services, medical reports requests, change dates, as well as activating remote consulting clinics in reform and rehabilitation centers.
With regard to the field of quality and performance improvement, 145 development projects were implemented, 47 major performance indicators (KPIS), and the application of advanced mechanisms for risk management and clinical auditing, contributed to enhancing patient safety and quality of care. A section for strategic planning and project management has also been launched, and a digital panel to track performance indicators has been launched, in order to enhance the efficiency of follow -up and institutional evaluation.
