The American envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrak, said today, Sunday, that the era of Western intervention in the Middle East ended, indicating that the matter has become up to regional solutions, partnerships and diplomacy based on respect.
Barak added, in his account on the “X” platform, that “the tragedy of Syria was born from the womb of the division. Its new birth must come through dignity, unity and investment in the people.
The American envoy stressed that the fall of the regime of former President Bashar al -Assad opened the door to peace, adding that the lifting of sanctions will open to the Syrian people “the door of prosperity and security.”

The Trump administration has appointed Tom Barak, the current American ambassador to Türkiye, to be the upcoming Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Syria.
“President Trump has identified his clear vision of a prosperous Middle East and stable Syria living in peace with itself and its neighbors,” said a statement by Barack published by the American embassy in Ankara on Friday.
“As the representative of President Trump in Türkiye, I am proud to take over the role of the United States’s special envoy to Syria and support Foreign Minister Rubio in achieving the president’s vision.”
