Syria thanks the Moroccan monarch for the decision to open his country’s embassy in Damascus

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al -Shaibani, in Baghdad, expressed his thanks and gratitude for King Mohammed VI’s decision to open the Moroccan embassy in Damascus.

Al -Shaibani, in a statement to the press, stressed on the sidelines of his talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bouraita, that the Moroccan -Syrian relations are very good, and we thank (the Moroccan monarch) and the Moroccan government for the interest in developing these relations that we aspire to be economically and investing in the Arab world. “

For his part, Nasser Bouraita emphasized the royal decision contained in the speech of the Moroccan monarch in front of the thirty -fourth summit of the League of Arab States.

In his speech, King Mohammed VI announced the Kingdom’s decision to reopen its embassy in Damascus, which was closed in 2012, stressing that the decision “will contribute to opening wider horizons for historical bilateral relations between our two countries and our two brothers.”

On this occasion, the king reaffirmed the Kingdom’s firm position regarding Syria, which came in his message to President Ahmed Al -Shara, which is “supporting and supporting the father of the parents to achieve their aspirations for freedom, security and stability, and to preserve the territorial integrity of Syria and its national sovereignty.”

In the context of implementing the royal decision, Bouraita announced that a technical delegation will visit Syria next week to determine the arrangements to open the embassy, ​​which will be a channel for communication and coordination in various fields.

The Syrian Foreign Minister also announced that he would in turn send a technical team to open the Syrian embassy in Rabat.
