Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today, Monday, that Russia is preparing a settlement note project in Ukraine, which will be delivered to Kiev.

Peskov said, in response to a question from the journalists: The text of a note is attended, as its draft will be delivered to the Ukrainian side, and in turn we will receive a draft memo from the Ukrainian side.

Peskov reported that the issue of continued prisoner exchanges with Ukraine depends on more negotiations.

“The matter will depend on the results of the negotiations, of course.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, had previously held a phone conversation, to discuss a number of matters, including the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

According to the Russian president, the conversation lasted more than two hours, and that Russia is ready to work with the Ukrainian side on a memorandum on a possible future peace treaty.

In another context, Peskov stressed that there is currently no talk about a pill deal, noting that the mechanism of negotiations on Ukraine has become different.

“We are not talking about this now, and there is a different mechanism for negotiations now.

In late March, the Kremlin announced that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, expressed his support for dialogue between Russia and the United States and the willingness of the Turkish side to facilitate the progress of the Black Sea initiative.

Black Sea initiative

The Black Sea initiative, which was signed on July 22, 2022, by representatives of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations, includes the export of Ukrainian grains and food as well as fertilizers across the Black Sea of three ports, including the Odessa port.

The validity of the grain deal ended on July 18, 2024, and Russia was notified Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations by opposing its extension, which means withdrawing Russian guarantees for navigation safety and stopping the work of the naval humanitarian corridor in the northwest of the Black Sea.
