Al -Muharraq Municipal Council approved yesterday morning during its periodic session the recommendation of the Services and Utilities Committee regarding the proposal to reduce sewage covers, with the aim of limiting the entry of dirt and waste that causes clogged banks.
The member of the municipal council, representing the second district, Dalal Al -Muhawi, said that the proposal came in response to repeated complaints from the people about the blockage of rainwater drains and the accumulation of dirt inside it, as a result of the sweeping or the throwing of the waste directly by passers -by or cleaners.
She emphasized that the proposal includes two options, either replacing the current covers with one with smaller holes, or installing an internal refinery that works as insulator to prevent waste from entering the bank, noting that this step will contribute to reducing obstruction and the spread of unpleasant odors and insects in residential areas.
Al -Muqawi stressed the importance of the interaction of the concerned authorities with this proposal, hoping that the competent ministry will take this proposal into consideration because of its direct positive impact on the health and safety of citizens.
The council’s accreditation for the proposal was unanimous in the members present, in a move that reflects the council’s interest in enhancing the efficiency of infrastructure in Muharraq regions and improving the quality of life for its residents.
