An Egyptian medical team managed to extract an iron nail that penetrated the skull of a 11 -year -old child.
The surgeons of the “Department of Neurosurgery” in “Al -Fayoum University Hospital” succeeded in extracting the screw from the child’s head in surgery, and I met “minute and complex” and lasted 5 hours.
The child had arrived at the hospital in a difficult condition, and after conducting the necessary examinations for him, it was found that a nail hacked his skull and reached the brain shell.
Examination revealed that it is called for urgent surgical intervention.
Doctors have been able to eradicate a bone part of the head that contains the screw, in order to avoid any damage to the brain or blood vessels, and they also took the necessary measures to prevent the child from infection with blood poisoning.
Dr. Mohamed Safaa El -Din, Director of “Al -Fayoum University Hospital”, said that the surgery was successfully and without complications, adding that the child was transferred to the intensive care room, and confirmed that his condition is stable and reassuring.
