Korean scientists invent an ultrasound device for wireless charging in the heart

Scientists from the South Korean Institute of Science and Technology have developed an ultrasound reception that provides underwater wireless scarcity and inside the human body.

The research was published in Advanced Mateials, and this device can run medical implants, marine sensors and drones without the need for wires or frequent replacement of batteries.

The new receiver works using ultrasound (high -frequency vibrations) that are easily transmitted via water and tissues, unlike the electromagnetic waves that lose their energy.

The device consists of thin layers of compressive compressor materials shaking under the influence of ultrasound to generate electricity. The frictional electricity layer is enhanced by friction, and it is similar to static electricity when combing the hair.

The device is characterized by a flexible structure similar to the silicone membrane that adapts to the movements of the body or ocean currents, and maintains its efficiency even when bending or stretching. An external transmission device is sent by ultrasound while the future turns them into energy with efficiency of up to 30%, which is considered three times higher than its predecessors.

In the tests, the device provides 20 mm of power at a distance of 3 cm below the m, and 7 mm across 3 cm of tissues.

This power is sufficient to operate heart attack devices, nervous stimulation devices, or wearable sensors. In order to review the efficiency of the device, the scientists lit a bilateral light -emitting (LED) that carries the KIST logo using radio ultrasound.

Thanks to the improvement of materials and the effect of frictional electricity, this device increased the power production by 5-10 times, compared to traditional receptions that were solid and low efficiency.

Its flexibility and vital compatibility allows it to integrate it into medical implants or the wearable devices, while it can nourish a maritime drone with electricity in order to collect climate data for years without maintenance.
