Israel announced today, Monday, the entry of the first batch of trucks carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza for nearly three months, while the United Nations described allowing 9 food trucks to enter the sector with a population of more than two million Palestinians as a “drop in the vicinity.”

The Israeli army said today, Monday, that five United Nations trucks carry humanitarian aid, including foods that were allowed to enter the Gaza Strip through the Karam Abu Salem crossing.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Secretary -General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, said that Israel allowed nine trucks loaded with aid to enter Monday to Gaza through the Karam Abu Salem crossing, after a comprehensive siege that lasted 11 weeks.

He added in a statement, “But this represents only a drop in the environment of what is required urgently, and it must be allowed to enter more aid to Gaza, starting tomorrow morning (Tuesday),” he added in a statement.

“To reduce looting, there must be a regular flow of aid, and humanitarian workers should be allowed to use many ways. The humanitarian response should be completed with commercial commodities.”

22 countries demand Israel

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced earlier on Monday that it allowed trucks loaded with infant food to Gaza, the day after the Prime Minister announced a “basic amount” of aid that will enter the Strip.

It is practiced on Israel, which announced the expansion of its ground operations in Gaza, pressures even by its US ally to end the blockade imposed on the Strip since last March.

Today, Monday, 22 countries demanded Israel to allow aid to enter Gaza immediately and completely, according to “Agence France Presse.”

The risk of familiarity with the United Nations agencies to the acute shortage of food, clean water, fuel and medicines in the besieged sector.

Likewise, the Director General of the World Health Organization warned Monday of the danger of starvation in the Gaza Strip, where there are “one million people who are starving” there.

“The risk of starvation in Gaza is increasing due to the deliberate ban to enter humanitarian aid” while “tons of food stuck at the border just minutes away.”

Israel prevented the entry of all aid to Gaza since the second of last March, with the aim of pressuring Hamas in the negotiations, and pushing it to release all its remaining hostages, without a clear commitment to completely stop the war.
