Indian businessman «Abu Sabah» in the Emirates on charges of money laundering

The Criminal Court in Dubai sentenced the famous Indian businessman, known as “Abu Sabah”, for a period of five years, with a fine of 500 thousand dirhams, and the deportation from the state, as well as the confiscation of money and electronic devices linked to the crime.

The confiscation of 150 million dirhams

The primary ruling included the confiscation of 150 million dirhams, a result of money laundering activities, in addition to computers, phones and other holdings, which have been proven used to implement the crime.

An organized criminal group and companies

The court convicted the accused on charges related to the establishment and operation of a money laundering network within an organized criminal group. Money laundering operations were carried out through fake companies and suspicious financial transfers inside and outside the country.

Various judgments against those involved

The rulings ranged between prison for five years and a fine of 500 thousand dirhams for a number of accused, and between imprisonment for a year and a fine of 200 thousand dirhams for others. Three companies were also fined at 50 million dirhams each.

Investigations began last December

The case started when the Dubai Police, located to the Public Prosecution in December 2024, which in turn turned it to the Criminal Court starting from January 2025, for the court to issue its preliminary ruling yesterday.

In absentia trial for some of the accused

Some defendants were convicted in absentia, while others attended the trial sessions. The rulings also included the confiscation of their property, which was proven to be used in crimes, with the removal of those convicted of the state.
