US President Donald Trump said that he will extend a final date to expire on June 19, 2025, to the China -based Bate Dance, to liquidate the American assets of the Tech Talk application, if an agreement is not reached by that day.
Trump’s talk comes at a critical time, as the deadline that was specified last January to stop the Tech Talk application from working in America, was twice extended by decisions from Trump himself, who believes that the application is strong after he helped him gain a base of young voters during the 2024 elections, as he put it.
The number of users of the Tech Tok application inside America
The Tech Talk app uses 170 million Americans, and the text of the law approved by Congress to prohibit the application within America if its American assets are not sold by January 19, one day before Trump’s second term.
But the American president chose not to carry out the ban immediately and preferred to give more time to reach a successful deal, and a proposal has already been presented to establish a new American company that takes the administration of Tek Tok in the local market and is owned by the majority of American investors.
Earlier, the Ireland Privacy Regulatory Authority imposed a fine of 530 million euros about 601.3 million dollars on the Tech Tok application for sending user data to China.
The Irish Data Protection Committee, which leads the privacy monitoring of the European Union, said the application has violated the Union’s GDPR data law regarding the transfer of European user data to China.
