The “Freedom Flotant” ship heading to Gaza said that one of its ships was burning and launched a distress call after it claimed that it was a drone attack off the coast of Malta in international waters.

The Freedom Flotilla Organization, which launches a campaign to end the Israeli blockade of Gaza, told the CNN that 30 people were on its ship when the alleged attack occurred after midnight local time.

“There is a hole in the ship now and the ship is drowning,” Yasmine Akar, the coalition’s press official, told the CNN.

Akar stated that the ship “sent distress calls to neighboring countries, including Malta”, and that a “small boat” had been sent from southern Cyprus. She added that she was able to contact the crew after sending the distress call.

The Al -Jazeera correspondent also reported, quoting officials, that the Freedom Flotator ship to break the siege on Gaza was attacked by an Israeli plane, which led to a fire in it.

The correspondence, quoting the sources, said that the ship was targeted in international waters near the coast of Malta.

The ship, which is carrying about 30 international human rights activists, sent a distress signal, and only the authorities in southern Cyprus were sent to send a ship to help and assist.

A video posted by the coalition on its account on the X platform showed a burning fire on a ship, as well as thick smoke. Two powerful explosions were also heard in a separate video.

“Our ship is now 17 kilometers from the coast of Malta in international waters, and it was attacked by a drone twice,” Akar said, adding that the generators at the front of the ship were the clear goal.

She added that “this boat does not provide the necessary electricity to the ship at the present time,” noting that the coalition was unable to contact the burned ship.

“We have 30 international human rights activists aboard that ship at this moment on a ship drowned,” said Akar.

The fleet did not accuse any party of being behind the alleged attack on the drone.

Marine navigation movement sites indicate that the ship’s ship flying under Palau and shows that it was present off the eastern coast of Malta on Friday morning.
