Hussein Fahmy from the Cannes Festival: Hollywood is no longer the only center of global cinema
The session reviewed the ways of cooperation between cinema makers in Egypt and the United States, with a focus on joint projects that pave qualitative transformations in the scene of independent cinema, and open new horizons for cultural and productive exchange between the two countries.
In his intervention, Hussein Fahmy stressed that Hollywood is no longer the only center of global cinema, pointing to the escalating competition from major markets such as China, which has become advanced and different cinematic models. He added that Egypt is heading today to expand the map of its cinematic cooperation to include the Asian, African and European markets, in an effort to open up and joint creativity.
The Egyptian pavilion is held with a joint organization between the Cairo International Film Festival, the El Gouna Film Festival and the Egypt Film Committee, and aims to highlight Egypt as a global photography site and an integrated film production center, as well as supporting young talents through discussion sessions and interactive events that allow direct communication with the pioneers of the global cinematic industry.
This session is one of the most prominent stations in Egypt’s participation this year, because of its light on the enormous capabilities that Egypt offers as a promising cinematic destination on the map of international production.
