His Majesty the King Hamad Digital Education Chair in partnership with the Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning Center at the Arab Gulf University launched a series of specialized training courses entitled “Design and Development of Your Electronic Course in the Learning Management System: from planning to specific reports”, with the aim of enhancing and improving digital learning skills in higher education institutions.
The Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research at the Arab Gulf University, Dr. Ghazi bin Abdul Rahman Al -Otaibi, explained that organizing the series of these training courses comes within the framework of the continuous efforts to develop the quality of higher education, and to provide an educational environment that keeps pace with international standards and meets the needs of students and the university community. These workshops will enhance the participants’ understanding of quality concepts and tools, develop data analysis skills and improve operations, and will enable them to apply quality tools in their educational environments, and will enhance the culture of continuous improvement in higher education institutions. For his part, the Supervisor of Scientific Chairs, Dean of the College of Education and Administrative Sciences and Technology, Dr. Walid Khalil Zabari, stressed the importance of the role of chairs in promoting and providing scientific research and upgrading the capabilities of cadres and capacity building.
In addition, the first workshop dealt with basic concepts in quality management and their tools in higher education, where basic concepts and principles were reviewed and the importance of quality application in educational institutions. This was followed by a workshop focusing on developing basic skills such as data analysis, processing maps fee, and analysis of the root causes of problems. At a time when the Dean of Quality at King Saud University, Prof. Mubarak Al -Qahtani, who won the Malcolm Border International Excellence Award for Excellence from the United States of America as the first Saudi and Arab academic, summarized glimpses of the journey of excellence and the quality of education at King Saud University. Meanwhile, a member of the Supreme Committee for the Development of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Khaled Al -Jumaan, presented the academic program model according to the standard of the Saudi Accreditation Commission.
For his part, the head of the Academic Accreditation Unit at the Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning Center, Dr. Adel Kamal, reviewed the national framework for competencies. To review the Supervisor of the Quality Unit at the Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning Center, Professor Khabab Abdel Moneim, definitions and concepts of quality in higher education and ways to link them to the design of electronic training programs. Then the head of the Biochemistry Department, Dr. Mai Satter, offered quality improvement tools, where the workshop dealt with quality improvement tools and techniques, advanced tools and technologies, and the comprehensive quality management system, with practical application on these tools through interactive exercises aimed at enhancing understanding and actual application.
This, and concluded today with the confirmation of the head of the Department of Education and Curricula, the supervisor of the chair of His Majesty King Hamad Digital Education, Prof. Dr. Al -Ajab Muhammad Al -Ajab, the importance of these training programs and the benefit of applications to improve quality, explaining that more training workshops will be held in the coming period.
Representatives from the University of Bahrain, the Arab Open University, the Royal University of Girls, the Kingdom of the Kingdom and the National University participated in the workshops.
