Serbian President Alexander Fuzic’s office announced that he had taken a military hospital in Belgrade on Saturday after returning from the United States, without explaining the reason.
“He was introduced to the Military Medical Academy upon his arrival,” he said, adding that he would update a “timely” update about the president’s health once “more detailed information.”
Serbian media had talked about a “problem” that forced him to cut his visit to the United States, during which President Donald Trump was to meet in Florida.
His transfer comes to the hospital, while the Serbian leader is facing a massive protest movement due to a fatal accident at a train station in the northern city of Novi Sad.
He was hospitalized in 2019 due to heart problems.
The announcement shall be made by doubt about Fuzic’s visit to Russia, the traditional ally of Serbia, to participate in the celebrations of the eighties of the end of World War II on the ninth of May.
On Thursday, the Serbian leader pledged to fulfill his promise to participate with about 20 world leaders on this occasion, which is celebrated with a large military parade in the red square.
But his visit to Russia would raise the anger of the European Union that Serbia wants to join.
