His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director General of the Administration of Rulings Implementation and Alternative Penalties, received Mrs. Okay Osaku, the Japanese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, accompanied by Deputy Ambassador Mr. Koji Kaniko.
During the meeting, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan, stressing the importance of the alternative sanctions project and the open prison program as one of the pioneering initiatives implemented by the Kingdom, within the framework of the comprehensive reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, indicating at the same time the continuous support of the esteemed government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him.
The visit included a field tour in the Open Prisons Complex, where the delegation was briefed on the advanced facilities and installations included in the complex, including educational buildings equipped with the latest technologies and educational systems, along with the sports club that contains an integrated health center, and units dedicated to mental games and social communication.
For its part, Ambassador Okay Osako expressed her admiration for the level of development and modernization witnessed by the complex, praising the efforts made in the field of reform and rehabilitation, which reflects Bahrain’s ambitious and pioneering vision in this field.
