The French Foreign Ministry announced today, Wednesday, that the European Union will submit more sanctions on Syria later to re -launch its economy.
He said in statements to the Arabic/the event that lifting the sanctions is a message of support to the Syrian authorities.
He also added that “the Europeans have already seen the progress of the democratic transition in Syria.”
He stressed that the European Union will continue to support Syria to achieve a transition that represents all its components.
This comes after the European Union previously lifted the economic sanctions on Syria to support the transformation process and recover the country after the overthrow of former President Bashar al -Assad. Penalties against the background of the coast events
On the other hand, the bloc included two people and 3 entities on a new list of human rights sanctions, against the background of the events of the Syrian coast.
Al -Arabiya/Al -Hadath correspondent stated that the two people are “the founder of the Sultan Suleiman Shah battalion, Muhammad Hussein al -Hashem (Abu Amsha), a Syrian national from Hama Governorate, and the leader of the Hamza band Saif Bullad Abu Bakr, a Syrian national from the Damascus Governorate,” adding that the entities are “Sultan Suleiman Shah’s battalion, the Hamza band and the Sultan Murad band.”
He also pointed out that the European Council announced that he “will continue to monitor field developments, and it is ready to impose more strict measures on human rights violators and those who fuel instability in Syria.”
In addition, he pointed out that the European decision also included the extension of the previous sanctions imposed on economic figures linked to the previous regime, members of the families of Assad (former President Bashar al -Assad) and Makhlouf, as well as the members of the former Syrian governments between May 2011 and December 2024. It is noteworthy that US President Donald Trump was announced on May 13 from Riyadh that the sanctions against Syria were lifted, at the request of Prince Muhammad bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince.
For its part, the European Union’s foreign policy official, Kaya Calas, announced on May 20 that the Union’s foreign ministers agreed to lift the economic sanctions imposed on Syria since the era of Bashar al -Assad.
Since its arrival in the power in December 2024, the new Syrian authorities have sought to advance the economy in preparation for the start of the recovery and reconstruction phase of $ 400 billion.
