The Ministry of Finance and National Economy confirmed that the circular economy has a role in enhancing the contribution of non -oil sectors, as it contributes to developing sustainable practices within the productive sectors; Which enhances the productivity of these sectors and the efficiency of their products, as well as creating new job opportunities and investments, by encouraging environmental innovation and sustainable manufacturing projects, which provides qualitative functions within the green economy, also raises resource efficiency and reduces costs, by enhancing the use of local resources, and reduces dependence on import; It reduces productivity costs.
She noted that Bahrain confirms its commitment to the shift towards a sustainable circular economy, through many initiatives and align economic and environmental policies, developing the legislative structure, and strengthening partnerships to achieve a balance between growth and environmental protection.
During its participation in the first session of the Ring Economy Forum, the Ministry reviewed towards a sustainable economy, which was entitled “National Policies in the application of the circular economy” UAE and Bahrain as a model “, statistics for the International Labor Organization, where statistics showed that the size of the circular economy market is about 554.5 billion dollars in 2023 AD, and it is expected to reach 1.8985 trillion dollars by 2033. 24 million new jobs globally by 2030.
With regard to waste management, according to statistics, the world produces more than two billion tons of solid waste annually, and is expected to rise to 3.8 billion tons by 2050, while the circular economy curriculum is to reduce this amount to less than 2 billion tons by 2050.
