Dr. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, made a visit to the students who were subjected to fainting cases during the practical examination of athletics at the Faculty of Sports Science, due to the high temperatures of the air, in the new surgical hospital, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, Dr. Hani Saeed, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science, and Dr. Mohamed Hatira, Undersecretary of the Faculty of Medicine for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs and Dr. Vice -Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Hassan Al -Tatawi, Executive Director of University Hospitals and a number of university hospitals directors.
President of Tanta University visits students of the Faculty of Sports Science
The President of Tanta University said, in a statement, that the visit comes within the framework of the follow -up of the university’s relentless follow -up and reassurance about their health after the incident that resulted from bad weather conditions, explaining that as soon as news was received about fainting cases between a number of students of the College of Sports Science, immediate measures were taken to ensure the safety of female students and provide the necessary medical care for them, and the number of cases that was subjected to fainting was 48 students And an assistant teacher in the college, 18 cases were transferred to the medical administration, and 31 cases were transferred to Al -Minshawi Hospital, and 21 cases were transferred from Al -Minshawi General Hospital to Tanta University Hospitals, confirming the exit of all cases, except for 4 cases in the new surgical hospital and their condition is stable.
During the visit, Dr. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, reassured the health of the students and spoke with them and with the medical teams overseeing their treatment, stressing the complete keenness of the university to provide all the necessary medical care for them, and also expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery for all students, praising their steadfastness and determination.
Cancel all practical tests
The President of Tanta University explained that he issued direct directives as soon as the incident occurred to cancel all the practical tests prescribed at the Faculty of Sports Sciences today, as a precautionary measure aimed at reducing pressure on female students and providing a safe environment for them.
Dr. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, also directed university hospitals and the university’s medical administration to raise the maximum level of preparation to receive and provide all aspects of care and first aid to the injured students, stressing that the safety of all male and female students comes at the top of the university administration’s priorities, and no action can be tolerated to ensure their safety.
In a related context, the President of Tanta University issued strict instructions to the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science to prepare a detailed and urgent report on the circumstances of this incident, and to determine the reasons that led to their occurrence, and this report aims to identify responsibilities and take the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future, especially in light of the unstable weather conditions in the country.
