The Lebanese artist Haifa Wehbe is still arousing the controversy in the Egyptian art scene, after announcing her recent joining the starring of a new movie that brings her together with the star Mustafa Shaaban, despite the decision of the Syndicate of Musical Professions to stop her from singing inside Egypt, and prevent her from obtaining permits to practice artistic activity.
A source familiar with Cairo 24 revealed that the Syndicate of Musical Professions had previously informed the Syndicate of Representative Professions, headed by Dr. Ashraf Zaki, of the need to refrain from granting Haifa Wehbe permits to practice any acting activity in Egypt, based on the cooperation protocol between the three technical unions.
Haifa Wehbe crisis
The beginning of the crisis dates back to late December 2024, when the Syndicate of Music Professions received an official complaint from the former Haifa business manager, Khaled Al -Tohamy, accusing it of insulting the Egyptians in statements attributed to it. As a result, the union issued a statement on January 5, 2025, announcing the artist’s referral for investigation.
Although several notifications were sent to attend the investigation sessions, Haifa Wehbe was absent from all the specified dates, which prompted the Investigation Committee to issue a final decision to prevent them from singing in Egypt on March 16, 2025, with a recommendation to notify other technical unions to take appropriate measures.
Notify the Representative Professions Syndicate not to grant Haifa Wehbe’s permits to the forefront of the public’s questions and followers about the extent of the impact of this decision on the upcoming film that brings it together in Mustafa Shaban, especially since some of the pre -production stages have already started, according to technical sources.
In light of this official procedure, a project question is raised: Will the filmmakers be forced to exclude Haifa Wehbe from work, or are there signs of a friendly solution that brings matters to its course? So far, no official comment from the heroes or producers of the film has been issued on the repercussions of this decision.
