According to Reuters, he added that by the end of this year, the factory is expected to start producing cars from almost ready groups.

“A new timetable is being placed so that the factory works at full capacity by December 2026, with 10,000 job opportunities expected,” Vaskonslos said in the video posted on social media.

Vaskonslus added that this news comes at a time when the governor of Bahia, Jeronimo Rodriguez, is traveling to China, accompanied by President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, to discuss BYD and car industry plans.

BYD explained in a statement that the operations will start assembling vehicles in 2025, as the factory intensifies its efforts with the gradual nationalization of the best -selling models in Brazil.

With the sale of 76,713 cars in Brazil throughout the year, the company recorded a growth of about 328% compared to 17,937 cars sold in 2023, according to a press statement issued in January.

The BYD investment in Brazil, its largest market outside China, aims to convert a former Ford factory into a production capacity of 150,000 electric cars annually, and the project was distorted last December with accusations of labor violations on the work site.
