The permanent mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations held an event to celebrate the first anniversary of the International Football Day at the United Nations headquarters in New York, in cooperation with the two permanent missions of the State of Libya and the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations, with the participation of Felimmon Yang, President of the United Nations General Assembly, Jiani Infantino, President of the International Football Association (FIFA), and a number of sports figures alongside representatives Delegations of member states and international organizations.

On this occasion, Ambassador Jamal Faris Al -Ruwaie, the permanent representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, affirmed the great interest that the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches to the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country’s great country, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the sports sector in belief in the role of sport in establishing human and civilizational values, building bridges of dialogue and openness On various cultures, support sustainable development goals.

The ambassador pointed out that the adoption of the general assembly unanimously last year declares a decision that announces the twenty -fifth of May of each year as a global football day, at the initiative of the Kingdom of Bahrain and a number of countries, reflects the importance that the international community of football attaches as an active tool for promoting peace and sustainable development.

The permanent representative said that the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue to work collectively to translate the values ​​embodied by football and its ability to unite individuals and societies through cultures, borders and generations for initiatives to enhance solidarity and cooperation in a way that contributes to building a more peace and sustainable world.

On the other hand, the permanent delegate participated in the event organized by the United Nations Children’s Organization), “UNICEF”, in cooperation with the group of football friends, which the Kingdom of Bahrain participates in its presidency, entitled “Every game for every child for every children child”,

On the sidelines of the celebration of International Football Day.

In his intervention, the ambassador affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to continue to enable the various age groups, especially young and children through sports, and to provide a safe and comprehensive environment that contributes to developing their skills and enshrines the values ​​of understanding and social cohesion.
