The National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research has revealed a number of methods used to try to predict earthquakes.

In a post on his official page on the social networking site «Facebook», the institute said that the prediction of earthquakes is to try to locate, time and strength of the likely earthquake, and despite scientific progress, earthquake prediction is still a major challenge due to the complexity of geological processes that lead to earthquakes.
Astronomical research explained that there are several methods used to try to predict earthquakes, which include:
- Study the previous seismic activity: Analysis of the history of earthquakes in a specific area to know the frequency and patterns.
- Current seismic activity: Use earthquake stations to determine small tremors that may be an indication of increased activity.
- Tikkatonia study: understanding the movement of tectonic plates and pressure that leads to earthquakes.
- Geophysical data analysis: Use techniques such as geophysical survey to determine changes in the structure of the Earth’s crust.
- Sports modeling: Use sports models to determine the expected behavior of the seismic system.
The Astronomical Research Institute emphasized that despite these efforts, earthquake prediction is still inaccurate, and predictions are often unlimited or inaccurate, so scientists focus on developing strategies to reduce earthquake risks, such as earthquake -resistant buildings and emergency plans to develop.
