The “Euro -Mediterranean Observatory for Human Rights” monitored the death of 14 Palestinian elderly people in the Gaza Strip last week, as a result of the complications of hunger, malnutrition and a lack of medical care caused by the comprehensive Israeli blockade of the sector since last March 2.
The human rights observatory (based in Geneva) said in a statement, on Saturday, that “a silent death that harvested the lives of the elderly and children in Gaza as a result of deadly living conditions imposed by Israel, most notably starvation and deprivation of care, within a continuous genocide for more than 19 months.”
He explained that the 14 victims died in separate areas of Gaza, where the residents suffer from a severe shortage of food, water and medicine, amid famine and complete collapse of the health system, which exacerbated the suffering of the elderly and the sick, and let them face death in complete isolation.
Regarding the alleged Israeli-American mechanism to deliver aid to Gaza, the observatory warned that this mechanism is a “maneuver to extend the illegal siege, by re-providing the crime of starvation in a misleading form that gives a false human nature on it, and legitimizes its continuous use as a weapon within the crime of continuous genocide.”
Friday, the American ambassador to Israel, Mike Hackabi, spoke during a conference at the American embassy headquarters in Jerusalem, about a “American initiative to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza”, claiming that President Donald Trump “gave orders to his team to make every effort to provide relief to civilians.”
“This is a great effort,” he said.
He added: “I would like to say that the Israelis will participate in providing the necessary military security because it is a war area, but they will not participate in the distribution of food, or even in bringing food to Gaza, their role will remain on the ocean.”
The United States is seeking, according to Hebrew and American media, to pass this initiative, amid doubts about its matching with an Israeli and international plan, and it is believed to actually aim to empty the northern sector of its residents by converting the city of Rafah (south) into a major relief center, and bringing in aid applicants to it.
Friday, the United Nations warned of Israel’s use of aid in Gaza as a “taste” in order to force the Palestinians to flee from their areas, especially from the northern Gaza Strip to its south, confirming that there is no “failure” in its distribution, according to statements by two international officials in a statement.
On May 5, the Israeli Ministerial Council for Political and Security Affairs voted “cabinet” in favor of allowing limited aid to locations in Rafah south of the Strip, under the protection of the Israeli occupation army, as part of a military operation that includes the displacement of citizens from north and central Gaza to the south.
