Artificial intelligence factories are dynamic systems that enhance innovation, cooperation and development in the field of artificial intelligence. These factories combine computing power, data and talent to create advanced artificial intelligence models and applications. It also supports cooperation across Europe by linking supercover centers to universities, small and medium enterprises (SMES), the industrial sector, and financial bodies.
Artificial intelligence factories are pivotal centers that push the wheel of progress in artificial intelligence applications in various fields such as health, industry, climate, finance, space, and others.
The European Commission has identified the establishment of artificial intelligence factories as a strategic priority, and was announced in the innovation package in the year 2024.
The “AI Action Plan” strengthens European investment in these factories. During the years 2025-2026, it is expected to operate at least 15 artificial intelligence factories and several sub-stations linked to superior computers crafted with artificial intelligence within the existing factories.
This will enable the creation of a unified European artificial intelligence system and stimulating growth by giving priority to reaching this infrastructure of startups and small and medium enterprises in the field of artificial intelligence.
In this context, 9 super computers will be purchased and operated in artificial intelligence throughout the European Union, which will double the current computing capacity of the European Eurohpc initiative three times.
The joint initiative “Eurohpc” provides access to computing time and support services provided by its artificial intelligence factories. These factories are available to European users from different sectors, including industry, research, academic circles and government agencies.
Moreover, in order to push the European continent to the top development of artificial intelligence, the Investai Initiative will include the creation of a new European fund worth 20 billion euros to create up to 5 huge factories for “Gigafactories”.
This initiative will enhance the public and private partnerships to ensure a safe investment environment and care for a competitive and innovative artificial intelligence system in Europe.
Huge artificial intelligence factories are wide -ranging facilities for the development and training of the next generation of artificial intelligence models that contain trillions of parameters.
To achieve this, these factories will combine huge computer power (more than 100,000 advanced artificial intelligence processors) with a great focus on energy capabilities, reliable supply chains, advanced networks, energy efficiency, and automation of operations depending on artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence factories will be linked to each other and will connect to other major artificial intelligence support initiatives, such as testing and experimenting facilities, which provide resources for testing artificial intelligence solutions and European digital innovation centers.
During the period from 2021 to 2027, the total investment of the Commission, Member States and countries associated with the infrastructure of the super computing and artificial intelligence factories in the European Union will reach 10 billion euros through the EuroHPC initiative.
Opportunities for the Gulf Cooperation Council states: The Gulf Cooperation Council countries can closely cooperate with the main partners to coordinate efforts and integrate resources, which encourages investment in developing, improving and integrating advanced artificial intelligence models in biotechnology.
Investments in artificial intelligence are witnessing a prosperity in the GCC countries, and the European experience can be repeated in creating artificial intelligence factories to provide great opportunities for small and medium enterprises and citizens to enhance their position and development in the field of artificial intelligence.
