Officials within the Public Security Service (the Shin Bet) threatened to resign if Major General David Zaini was appointed as the head of the agency, the candidate of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In closed talks during the weekend, the field coordinators in the Shin Bet, responsible for the Jerusalem and West Bank regions, expressed their refusal to appoint, and considered it political motives, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, “Kahn”.
Those responsible for their concern that the opinions and values of Major General Zaini are inconsistent with the basic values of the device, and may harm its non -partisan character.
The “Times of Israel” newspaper reported that “so far no official resignation letters have been submitted, and the Shin Bet refused to comment on this broadcasting body report.”
The newspaper quoted Zini as saying: “There is no sufficient deployment of forces in all fighting areas in Gaza, noting that the Israeli army does not have sufficient resources for that.”
The families of the Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip joined the opponents of the appointment of Major General David Zaini as head of the Internal Security Service (the Shin Bet), after leaking previous statements to him in which he said that he opposes the completion of an exchange deal with Hamas, given that the current war is an eternal war.
A statement issued by the detainees ‘families’ Authority said that the appointment of Zeni, which places the war launched by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before “returning the kidnapped”, is a crime over the crime and injustice against the people of Israel, according to the statement.
The families of the detainees confirmed that they were angry when they heard the statements attributed to him.
They added: “If the publication is correct, these are shocking and deliberate situations that come from a person who is destined to decide the fate of the kidnapped men and women.”
Israeli media also quoted families detained in Gaza, sharp statements against Zini.
According to the newspaper “Yediot Aharonot”, the Families Forum described the appointment as a permit to bury the kidnappers in (Hamas) tunnels in favor of an eternal war.
The forum demanded to respond to invitations to cancel the appointment of Zeni immediately against the background of his statements.
