Dr. Abla Al -Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, announced that the state has started implementing an urgent population plan aimed at eliminating the “red” and “bile” areas, which are areas that suffer from a sharp decline in population indicators, in terms of fertility rates, level of education, health services, and empowerment of women.
Eliminate red and yellow areas by 2027
Al -Alfi explained, during her speech at the launching of the urgent population plan, that it is the red areas that record population indicators less than 50% of the target, while the yellow areas record less than 70%, which requires rapid and intense intervention to improve population characteristics and raise the efficiency of services provided to citizens.
She pointed out that the red areas represent about 50% of the total regions at the level of the Republic, which prompted the government to develop a tight executive plan that ends by 2025, provided that all the red and yellow regions are complete by the end of 2027.
The Deputy Minister confirmed that Egypt currently includes 159 areas classified as “yellow”, and it is being worked on within the second stage of the plan, with coordination between 37 ministries and government agencies, as well as civil society organizations and the private sector, in the context of strengthening partnership and integration of roles.
She added that the Ministry was keen to enhance administrative governance through the application of the decentralization system, which enabled the National Population Council to implement more than 68 thousand educational and service activities in various governorates, and the institutional development of the Council also included advanced training programs on preparing strategies, and processing the deficit in information and human cadres.
Al -Alfi concluded its speech by emphasizing that this plan represents a qualitative shift in the state’s dealings with the population file, and contributes to improving the quality of citizens ’life and achieving sustainable development in various parts of the Republic.
