An investigative documentary film entitled “Who killed Sherine?”, Produced by the American “Zatho” platform, revealed the identity of the Israeli soldier who shot Palestinian journalist Sherine Abu Aqla, during her coverage of a military operation in the city of Jenin in the West Bank in 2022.
According to the film, the soldier is “Alon Skagio”, who was killed in June 2024 after the explosion of an explosive device during a military operation carried out by the Israeli forces in Jenin.
The film, which was shown for the first time in New York City, sparked widespread controversy, as he presented new information based on investigative investigations, confirming the responsibility of the soldier about the killing of Abu Aqla, who was shot in the head while wearing a journalistic journey and helmet bearing the “press” mark.
The documentary pointed out that Skagio was killed by Palestinian resistance fighters during a later operation in the city itself.
The case of the killing of Sherine Abu Aqla, which holds American citizenship, sparked wide international condemnation, with demands to hold the officials accountable.
Previous investigations, including United Nations reports and international media, suggested that the bullet that claimed the life of the journalist was fired by the Israeli forces.
