Dr. Hossam Ghoneim, Director General of the General Administration of Antiquities of Alexandria, inspected the Abu Sir Temple, accompanied by Mohamed Nabil, Director of the Department of Reliefs and Excellencies, and the Archaeologists Amr Waheed at the Department of Scholarships and Excavations, and Ahmed Al -Rayes in the administration of the center of Alexandria.
This tour came with the aim of standing on the readiness of the archaeological site for the excavation season for this year, and the agenda of the timeline to develop the archaeological site in preparation for its opening to visit in front of global tourism, follow up on the current situation, and how to provide the services provided and work to develop it and raise its efficiency to make the region more attractive and that works to provide a distinguished tourism experience with this important site.
Development and restoration of the Abu Sir temple area
The Abu Sir Archeology District said, in a statement, that Abu Sir is a village that follows the Burj Al Arab Center in Alexandria Governorate, near the outskirts of an area known as the Nile Delta in the past, and the town is confined between the Mediterranean and Lake Mariout, which is of great historical importance, and it has the effects of an old temple and an ancient simulation of the Funar Alexandria.
During the tour, a number of topics of interest in the region development project were discussed, including preparing for the preparation of a project to develop and restore the region and the mechanisms for implementing steps gradually during the excavation season for the Egyptian mission.
