Al -Shirawi: A peaceful coexistence with the era of artificial intelligence is an ethical necessity that requires international legislation

Dr. Yasser Saqr Al -Shirawi, Assistant Secretary -General of Resources and Services in the House of Representatives, stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, believes that civil peace and coexistence between various religious, cultural and social components is the stone of Saas in building a stable and advanced society, and that the Kingdom’s constitution has devoted this approach through protection through protection Pluralism and criminalization of hate speech, calling for strengthening international cooperation to establish legal and moral frameworks concerned with the governance of artificial intelligence, and in a manner that preserves human dignity and preserves cultural and societal pluralism.

This came during a speech delivered at the high -level session entitled “Legislative and Executive Pluralism of Peaceful Coexistence in the Anged Intelligence Age”, as part of the second edition of the science schools for peace organized by the International Parliamentary Union in cooperation with the King Hamad Center for peaceful coexistence and tolerance, within the second edition of the program held in the city of Alan in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Dr. Al -Shirawi expressed his thanks to the International Federation and the King Hamad International Center for peaceful coexistence for his organization of this series of dialogue sessions, praising the pivotal role it plays in exchanging visions and experiences on technology governance and promoting peace values.

Al -Shirawi also reviewed the most prominent Bahraini legislation and initiatives that support this path, referring to the Information Technology Crime Law (2014), the Personal Data Protection Law (2018), and the penal law that criminalizes incitement and hatred, as well as the ongoing endeavors to pass a law on organizing artificial intelligence, in a manner that guarantees transparency and human rights.

He explained that the Shura and House of Representatives, in partnership with the government, is working to develop the legislative environment in a way that keeps pace with digital transformation and enhances the moral use of modern technologies, through comparative studies, specialized workshops, and national awareness initiatives, targeting society in general, and the youth category in particular.

He pointed out that the two general secretariats of the Shura and Representatives have launched advanced training programs to build the capabilities of parliamentarians and administrative cadres in the field of artificial intelligence and digital legislation, stressing that these efforts reflect an institutional commitment to the establishment of the values ​​of peaceful coexistence in the digital environment.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Al -Shirawi stressed that coexistence in the era of artificial intelligence is no longer an option, but rather a “legal, moral and human necessity”, calling for a comprehensive global dialogue that leads to building unified rules for artificial intelligence governance, in a way that serves man, preserves his dignity and enhances his stability.
