The Football Association’s position on canceling the decline in the Premier League
In statements to Cairo 24, the source confirmed that the idea of canceling the decline is not acceptable within the Board of Directors of the Football Association, where the federation wants to continue the situation on the decline as it is, so that two teams from the Premier League fall to the professional league at the end of the current season, stressing that the Football Association puts the Egyptian football interest in the forefront of its accounts and takes its decisions in light of this.
The source added that the most important reservation of the Football Association for the form and system of the league championship in the new season is to hold the championship with the participation of a single number of clubs, 19 teams, noting that the Football Association believes that it is better to establish the league with the participation of a couple of clubs, so the thinking of increasing the number of league teams next season to 20 teams.
The source continued that the proposals for increasing the number of league teams included several perceptions, including the rise of 4 teams from the Professional League to the Premier League instead of the rise of 3 teams according to what is specified since the beginning of the season, or the establishment of a rise in which more than one team of the professional league teams with them the penultimate team in the league.
The source continued, saying that one of the proposals that were put forward is to invite a team from outside Egypt to participate in the next season’s league, and the thinking of inviting a team from the Sudanese League, in light of the suspension of local football competitions in Sudan currently because of the political events there, which was the reason for the participation of Al -Hilal and Mars teams in the Mauritanian League this season.
The source concluded his remarks by saying that the final decision on the decline and the number of emerging clubs will take place during the meeting of the Football Association and the Club League with the Premier League clubs and the Professional League, which is the meeting scheduled for May 20 at the headquarters of the Football Association.
