The Chairman of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, welcomed the appointment of Dr. Kamel Al -Tayeb Idris as Prime Minister of the Republic of Sudan.
In a statement, the President of the Commission praised this development as a step towards a comprehensive government, expressing his hope that this would effectively contribute to the ongoing efforts to restore the constitutional system and democratic rule in Sudan.
Youssef called on all the owners of the Sudanese stakeholders to redouble their efforts for a peaceful and comprehensive transition, reflecting the aspirations of the Sudanese people, indicating that the commission remains ready to support Sudan in this regard, in cooperation with regional and international partners.
The Chairman of the Commission again affirmed the Constituency of the African Union fixed to the unity, sovereignty and stability of Sudan, and his endeavor to a permanent political solution that guarantees peace, development and democratic rule for all Sudanese.
